Sculptors

The story continues

Travel leads to a great many meetings with fellow sculptors.

These are links to some of the sculptors I have worked with, peers that have inspired me, and projects I have participated.

Well it all really started a long time ago. The first significant influence, Al Matsamoto. The team "Artisands des Dreams". We worked in both sand and snow. After a few years with the Artisands, a new team was formed. The Sandemons Sculpting Team.

As more time passed newer opportunities opened up. Contests around the world and large scale events to participate in. The first big event was Zandsculptuur Blankenberge 2003 for a company Sculpta. Here I participated with fellow Vancouverite Craig Mutch

2004 came an opportunity to work with Henri and Baldrick, Sandaholics Anonymous. Together with Pipe Events produced Zandsculptuur Zeebrugge. 2005 was an opportunity with Inaxi Holland. Here I worked as part of an International Team of sculptors, and I finally got to work with members of the Canadian Snow Sculpture Team.

In 2007 it was Sandland in conjunction with Tourism Charlottetown.

Material and Tools

With a variety of materials that I use and the different tools required to complete each task here are some of the suppliers that help out.

Sand and Snow. Sand from my local suppliers Ozera on Vancouver Island and Fraser Valley sand and gravel on the mainland. Fortunately snow is a natural occurrence in most locals, however in Europe snow is made by machine. Snow Promotions is the maker of this stuff.

Concrete is supplied through the dealer network of Lafarge Concrete. With a wide range of materials available from transparent to special adjunct mixes used in water features and landscape projects.

Transportation and Lodging

With so many different projects in varied parts of the world a number of companies help out by getting me there and making sure I have comfortable stay.

To get to places I start with Harbour Air Seaplanes, this gets me to Vancouver where I usually fly with Air Canada. I have been known to also fly with British Airways.

When I stay and pay on my own, my favorite place is a Scandic Hotels.
